About Me
Writing an About Me section never comes easy. Most people still don’t quite understand what a wine consultant actually does. Even after 10 years in the wine industry, I often get asked: What exactly do you do? or Are you a sommelier?
I usually explain that "sommelier" isn’t interchangeable with "wine expert"—it’s a role more focused on service and hospitality. But sometimes, I just smile and say, yes, I’m a sommelier, and spare everyone the nuance.
Wine itself is already complex. Add in the culture behind it, the intricacies of different markets, the nuances of production and terroir, not to mention millions of wine labels—and you have a deeply fragmented and highly specialized world.
I began my wine career as a junior editor for a wine website. At the time, I wasn’t particularly passionate about wine, it was just the first interesting offer after finishing my bachelor's in English Language and Translation Studies. But from there, I started discovering the world of wine and grew increasingly curious. I later joined China’s largest fine wine importer as a private client sales, where I had the opportunity to taste some of the world’s finest wines—from Burgundy to Napa Valley.
In 2018, I enrolled in one of the world’s top Master’s programs for wine business in Burgundy to deepen my knowledge, expand my perspective, and take my career to the next level.
After completing my MBA in 2020, struggling right in the middle of the pandemic,I started my freelance journey. Since then, I’ve continued learning and evolving, sharpening my skills in digital marketing, creative writing, and data analytics. I’ve worked with a wide range of clients—from third-generation winemakers to newcomers in wine tech. My work spans traditional wine roles like sourcing and hosting tastings, to more modern initiatives like content strategy, market research, and brand storytelling. Now, in the age of AI, I contribute to data-driven projects that are reshaping the future of wine.
As I write this in April 2025, I’ve started collaborating with a tour operator, hosting wine tastings in Paris for curious travelers. It’s a role I once thought too simple, but it brings me unexpected joy. These days, a juicy Poulsard or a soulful orange wine makes me happier than a collector’s bottle.
My understanding of wine and my place in the industry have evolved. I love helping people feel more confident, more informed, more curious, and less intimidated by wine after our tastings.
Through constant learning and creativity, I hope to contribute to this fascinating industry and hopefully inspire others along the way.
